Born on Long Island New York, Tom started playing guitar at the age of 10
teen years. After leaving high school, Tom discovered jazz and moved to Tampa to
attend the University of South Florida's jazz program.
Upon graduation he became the guitarist and musical director for top jazz singer
Belinda Womack and was voted Tampa Bay's Best Jazz Band in 1994. While with
Belinda, Tom performed concerts with legendary cornetist Nat Adderly and opened
shows for numerous national acts including Branford Marsalis, The Rippingtons,
Spyro Gyra, Herbie Mann, Oleta Adams and many others. After recording a CD in
1998, Tom joined R&B singer / national recording artist Kasai and recorded his debut
CD in 2000.
Also an avid composer Tom owns the production company MUSIC JEMS spots for
Disney, Microsoft and Honda while also composing music for prime time TV shows
including FOX's American Idol. His score for the short film drama, THIRST, was
nominated for 'Best Original Score' at the Pan Pacific Film Festival in 2011 and
SHALOM won at the Tampa Bay Jewish film festival in 2010. Tom finished scoring his
first Hollywood feature film, 3 TIMES A CHARM in 2011 and has since scored ten
feature films completing THE SUICIDE NOTE a mystery/thriller in the summer 2015.
Tom also scored the short film THE BEDFORD DEVIL for Kitefliers Studios and was
featured at The Gasparilla Film Festival in 2012.
Currently, Tom leads his own Jazz / funk group - TOM JEMMOTT BAND and performs
with the high energy 12 piece dance band Southtown Fever . He is also a member of
the modern Jazz Trio - THICK AS THIEVES and continues a busy performance
schedule as a freelance jazz, classical and pop/rock guitarist as well as teaching jazz
guitar at the University of Tampa.
